Mr. Royston Griffin

(Senior) Civil Aviation Officer

Mr. Royston Griffin hails from the community of Keys Village, St. Kitts. He is known to many as a hardworking, ambitious young man who has committed to pursuing his life’s goals in several institutions in the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis, the place of his birth.

 

Mr. Griffin’s extensive service in the field of security spans a wide cross section of disciplines .He served as a law enforcement officer in the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force and continued his career in the military as a soldier attached to the Coast Guard Unit of the St. Kitts and Nevis Defence Force.

 

Mr. Griffin’s contribution to security is at both operational/tactical and administrative levels.  His participation in regional and international capacity building seminars has resulted in his vast knowledge and skills set in specific areas such as airport security, risk assessment and management, maritime security, security leadership and management. He holds certification from reputable regional and international security agencies/institutions such as The Regional Security System (RSS), International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), Transportation Security Administration (TSA), International Maritime Organization (IMO). He has completed a wide gamut of courses that have qualified him to serve as one of the Federation’s principal security instructors. These include but are not limited to the STCW Train the Trainer Instructor Supervisor and Assessor Qualification Course, Civil Aviation Instructor Course, Diploma in Maritime Surveying, ICAO National Screener Certification Course, Aviation Security Certification System Course.

 

With the establishment of the Aviation Department in the Federation consequent upon St. Kitts and Nevis ratification of the related International Conventions, Mr. Griffin was appointed as one of the principal officers charged with the responsibility to ensure the nation’s compliance with their provisions.

 

He currently carries out the function of Regulator/Oversight Officer within the Department of  Aviation and is completing his advanced studies (MSc Surveyor Training) with Lloyds Middlesex University.
